The prevalence of CHEK2 and CYP1B1 mutations/polymorphisms in urinary bladder cancer
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Urinary bladder carcinoma ranks the fourth position in malignancy incidence rates in men (6.1%) and the 17th position in women (1.6%). In general, neoplastic diseases, should be approached from two perspectives: prevention with implementation of prophylactic measures and early diagnostics. Prophylactics is possible in the preclinical phase of neoplasm, being both justified and plausible in patients from high-risk groups. Thus, it is particularly important to select such groups, not only by referring to environmental carcinogenic factors (occupational and extra-occupational) but also from genetic predisposition, which may be conductive for neoplasm formation. The mutations / polymorphisms of CHEK2 and CYP1B1 genes predispose to neoplasm via multiorgan mechanisms, while the human papilloma virus (HPV) may actively participate in the neoplastic transformation towards urinary bladder carcinoma as an environmental factor.

متن کاملGenetic polymorphism intermingled with environmental factors substantially contributes to the bladder cancer progression
Bladder cancer is a common issue in urological practice. The tumor originates in urothelium – an internal epithelial lining of urinary bladder. Hence, the urothelium is exposed to numerous pathogens excreted in urine, natural as well as synthetic compounds such as: bacteria, viruses, hormones, drug metabolites, salts, and xenobiotic toxins (aromatic amines, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, oth...

Background & Objectives: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and the second most common cause of cancer death. Genetic factors play an important role in the development of breast cancer. Among these genetic factors, CHEk2 (checkpoint kinase 2) gene, as a tumor suppressor gene, plays a critical role in DNA repair. Germline mutations in CEHK2 result in the loss of this feature. On...
متن کاملRare variants in BRCA2 and CHEK2 are associated with the risk of urinary tract cancers
Previous studies have shown that two rare variants, rs11571833 in BRCA2 and rs17879961 in CHEK2 were associated with lung cancer. However, the associations between these two variants and urinary tract cancers risk remain largely unexplored. We applied imputation of three genome-wide association studies published in the database of Genotypes and Phenotypes (dbGaP). Unconditional logistic regress...

Introduction Bladder cancer is the most common malignancy in elderly people and most bladder cancers are transitional cell carcinomas (TCC). Bladder pathology is usually investigated visually by cystoscopy and this technique can represent different conditions ranging from simple inflammation to flat CIS. However, biopsies must be taken from the suspected area to obtain diagnostic information. T...
